There’s been plenty to celebrate recently at Sweetser’s Peer Center, as our team continues to build connections and champion the power of peer support and recovery throughout Maine.
Sharing Stories of Hope with Journey Magazine
The Peer Center recently welcomed Journey Magazine for a special visit and delivery of co-branded magazines that will be shared with individuals seeking connection, encouragement, and recovery resources.
Journey Magazine highlights stories and resources centered around recovery, helping people see that meaningful change is possible and that they don’t have to navigate their journey alone. These magazines will be another valuable resource for Peer Center visitors, offering messages of hope alongside the support and community they find at Sweetser.
A big thank you to Journey Magazine for partnering with us to help share stories of recovery and remind people across Maine that recovery is possible, and support is always within reach.

Celebrating 30 Years of Intentional Peer Support

Our Peer Center team also recently joined peer supporters from across Maine to celebrate an exciting milestone: 30 years of Intentional Peer Support (IPS).
Hosted by the Maine Office of Behavioral Health, the celebration brought together peer supporters from agencies across the state to recognize three decades of connection, mutuality, and relationship-building through Intentional Peer Support.
Sweetser’s Peer Center staff were proud to be part of the celebration—and they even created their own sign to mark the occasion!

Events like this are an important reminder of the incredible peer support community that exists throughout Maine. We’re proud of our Peer Center staff for the work they do every day to create welcoming spaces where people can connect through shared experiences, find encouragement, and know they are not alone.
